BIO

I was born in 1985 in Amos (CAN). My ancestors are both American Natives (Anishinaabe) and French European Colonists. The last Anishinaabe woman of my matriline gave life to us three generations ago, and she remains honoured and acknowledged.

I live and work in Montreal, where I earned an MFA in Studio Arts (Photography) from Concordia University in 2022. Before that, I spent 10 years developing a self-directed practice. My work, spanning photography and installation, has been shown in solo and group exhibitions across Canada, New York, Italy, Austria, and art fairs like VOLTA and Untitled Miami. Since 2018, I have completed several permanent public art commissions, including metalwork, concrete and glass sculptures, and large-scale photographic murals.

In 2021, I was longlisted for the New Generation Photography Award by the National Gallery of Canada. Other recent recognitions include fellowships and residencies at the British School at Rome, Banff Centre, NARS Foundation, Molinari Foundation, and the Yvonne Bombardier Foundation Award for emerging artists. My work is held in collections such as the National Gallery of Quebec, Scotia Bank, Desjardins, Google, Deloitte and Telus.

In 2024, I spent six months in residency at the NARS Foundation in Brooklyn, where I expanded my practice into painting. This marks a new direction I’m committed to pursuing in the coming years. My projects have received funding from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and the Canada Council for the Arts. Since 2014, I have been represented by Galerie Nicolas Robert in Montreal and Toronto.

Statement / Démarche

I am researching light as both a medium and a subject to symbolize the metaphysical aspects of our lives. My work delves into how perceptual phenomena impact our psyche through various artistic mediums such as painting, photography, installation and drawing. I recently started using saturated colours, sacred geometry, and repeated patterns to generate visually energetic vibrations.

I am also researching the contribution of women's spirituality in modern art and post-patriarchal spirituality. I believe this last topic to be essential to improve our current global situation regarding climate change, politics, decolonization and women/queer conditions. These ideas have profoundly influenced my recent paintings. I dedicate my art to broaching these subjects through the power of colour, light and symbolic imagery, and an installative painting approach.

Like my earlier installation work, my recent paintings reaffirm the timeless legacy of humanity's spiritual connection with abstraction and geometry since ancient history. My work offers a pathway to a post-patriarchal, decolonized view of spirituality and contributes to the healing of the collective consciousness. I prompt viewers to ponder: Is this all there is? How much of what we perceive is real? And how much of what is real can we perceive?
