Statement / Démarche

Caroline Cloutier is a Montreal-based artist whose work explores light, perception, and the unseen forces shaping reality. Her practice has evolved from photography and installation, where she used architecture and optical illusions to shift perception, to painting, a more direct and fluid expression of light and energy.

Through painting, Cloutier engages with color and pigment to explore the vibratory nature of existence. Inspired by sacred geometry and natural movement, her compositions reflect what she calls the “architecture of life”—the invisible yet fundamental patterns that structure reality, from atomic arrangements to planetary motion. Her luminous, energetic paintings employ the full spectrum of color to evoke light as a living force. Layered brushstrokes, reminiscent of woven matrices or shifting veils, create optical effects that invite viewers to move around the work, experiencing its vibratory essence.
